Save Money and Enhance the Quality of Your HVAC System

Homeowners have a lot to keep track of. You want your home to be comfortable, safe and well maintained but you want to do all of that within a reasonable budget. There are steps you can take to enhance the quality of your HVAC system that also saves money.

Change the Air Filter:

Changing your air filter will allow the air that passes through it to flow more smoothly.

Changing your air filter will allow the air that passes through it to flow more smoothly which increases efficiency and ultimately will save you money. Regularly changing your filter also improves your indoor air quality which allows you to breathe easier.

Seal Air Leaks:

This is a quick but effective fix for small leaks. You can also use a liquid or aerosol-based sealant, but it requires a little more skill and it can get messy. Areas to keep an eye on would be sections of your ducts where there are any kinks, bends, breaks, or disconnections.

Seal Ducts with Metallic Tape (not duct tape!):

You can save 10-20% on your energy bill by investing in a little weatherstripping and caulk. Check your home for air leaks in and around windows, doors, electrical outlets, and where cables lead outside. Don’t forget to pay special attention to your attic and basement! Not only does this save you money but will help to eliminate drafts in the winter, making your family more comfortable.

Schedule a Tune-Up:

You can use a liquid or aerosol-based sealant

Scheduling a tune-up of your HVAC system is a small expense that will save you money by making sure your system is prepared for winter or summer’s extreme temperatures. Preventative maintenance is also important so you can avoid bigger, more expensive repairs on your system.

Utilize Landscape:

increase the efficiency of your cooling system.

Shading your home and windows with trees will increase the efficiency of your cooling system up to 10%. While you’re out there in the garden you can also trim the plants around your HVAC unit to increase airflow for lower energy costs.
