Massachusetts Heat Pump Rebates Are Changing

Inflation Reduction Act incentives are expiring at the end of 2025.

Massachusetts homeowners have long benefited from government incentives that make installing high-efficiency heat pumps more affordable. The popular Mass Save program currently offers up to $10,000 in rebates for qualifying units, helping reduce energy costs and environmental impact.

However, changes are coming:

  • Mass Save funding will be reduced by $500 million in 2026, meaning rebates are expected to shrink.
  • The federal Section 25C tax credit for heat pumps is only available for systems installed on or before December 31, 2025.

If you have been thinking about upgrading your heating and cooling system, now is the time to act to maximize savings before these incentives expire.

How to Take Advantage

  1. Schedule a Home Energy Assessment
Most Mass Save rebates require a home assessment before installation.
  1. Find an Approved Installer
Use the Mass Save Heat Pump Installer Network—or work with a trusted installer like us—to ensure your system qualifies.
  1. Apply Early and Install Promptly
Coordinating your assessment, installer, and equipment now helps you secure the maximum available rebates and tax credits before funding decreases.

Heat pumps are one of the most efficient ways to provide reliable heating and cooling in Massachusetts, making now the perfect time to upgrade.
